Secrets

lingering within the confines of our subconscious
repressed by the darkness that is his most prominent trait
hiding
within him holding such a power
to bring fear
to bring destruction and chaos
able to shatter even the most stable of foundations
once released
still masquerading around as truth
for those not perceptive enough to see
as those around him accepts all he offers in face value
not questioning his motives
for they have no reason for doubt
kept hidden behind the laughter
smiles masking his true face
yet we hold him so tightly
as he struggles to loosen the grip of each finger
cowardice not allowing us to let go
for fear of retribution
fear of what outcome may arise
so we hold on tightly
but how long can we hold on?
