The sound of your heart thumps loudly in your head
as beads of sweat rapidly descend from your forehead,
causing your vision to blur
until the back of your hand finds your face
and brush the sweat away.
"Why am I running?" you ask yourself?
Because you have to run
run in order to reach your destination.
But you run so fast
that the sights around you drift you into oblivion
and you end up seeing nothing at all.
Nothing to the left,
nothing to the right,
nothing behind.
Just a faint image of what's lying ahead.
But you've yet to get close enough to see what that is.
So you keep running.
Faster and faster.
Until you smack face first into a wall
and as you lie there on the ground you ask,
"What the hell did I run here for?"
