The Cannon Ball

the outspoken one in the bunch
her voice, the room it fills
especially during large meetings
where time seems to stand still
whether it be repeating what was said
or questioning again and again
surely her mind will be spoken
and we all must listen in vain
for not a single ear cares to know
whatever it is she may disapprove
but the manager is present
and her image she must improve
seemingly just out of the shower
in her long grey robe with sneaks
her defensive tone will radiate
especially when she speaks
for every move she has made
is impossible to be wrong, you see?
and this stand she will defend
no matter frail her argument may be
with her presence in the room
you must watch what you say
for she will scurry over to the boss
and give your identity away
and this seems to be her way
of getting into the boss’s good side
so when down-sizing comes around
she has no reason to go hide
but if all her attempts fail
she can always turn to empathy
for who will fire someone with 8 children?
surely the boss will show some sympathy
those around her are not so eager
to partake in some verbal exchange
with her aggressive demeanor
we fear it is a fight she’ll engage
so most of us will steer very clear
of any path she decides to take
for this is not one enemy here
